Tomorrow my first put-in-the-public-eye brainchild will finally be available for sale on Amazon, and let me tell you—I'm feeling almost as expectant as I did when my children were due. Unlike with them, of course, the book release will actually happen on the date expected, not two weeks later. The process for a book to come into the world is also less strenuous, although not by much (from a certain viewpoint, anyway). Endless editing, proofing, cutting scenes, adding scenes, second-guessing aspects of the narrative, and even agonizing over chapter titles no one will care about have all constituted a labor of the mind. I'm sure I'll find some sort of gratuitous error somewhere in the text after publication that has been missed by all, but that's to be expected.
Triumph kicks off a series of three books which will each have their unique flavor. They will be unified by the tale of two characters, but the first book, told from the male protagonist's point of view, can be seen as laying the groundwork for the other two. The second book will be from the female protagonist's point of view, while the third will feature them both.
This dark, tragic, and (hopefully) compelling story is something I'm excited to share with you all. I hope you'll find something that you can carry with you, think about, cry about, wonder about, rage about. If you do, I'll have done my job.
